Background:

Pallavi Abraham is a summer fellow at Bellwether in the Strategic Advising practice area.

Since 2013, Pallavi has focused on bringing a data- and systems-design lens to K-12 education in a variety of roles across charter schools and education nonprofits. Prior to joining Bellwether, she served as the Executive Director for Teachers Supporting Teachers, where she was part of the founding team that launched and grew the organization which focused on building distributed leadership in schools. Pallavi began her career as a Teach For America corps member in Chicago’s most underserved schools and went on to be a teacher leader as she led teams and taught Advanced Placement biology and biochemistry classes.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in secondary science education from Johns Hopkins University, and is currently an MBA candidate at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Why I do this work:

I wanted to be an educator since I was six years old and remember storing away ideas in first grade thinking, “I’m going to do that when I’m a teacher!” Fast forward to my time in the classroom: I saw over and over that talent is equally distributed, while access is not. I’m deeply committed to building organizations, leading projects, and fostering people as we close the educational opportunity gap across the country.
