Background:
Lorraine Madala is the director of team and culture at Bellwether in the Core Operations team. She leads multiple human resources functions to facilitate an excellent workplace culture that retains, develops, and supports talented staff.
Lorraine has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit, government, and commercial sectors in the U.S. and abroad. Before joining Bellwether, she led talent and culture for the core functions and as a human resources business partner for risk management at Capital One. Lorraine also led learning and development at Leadership for Educational Equity and served as chief of staff for global diversity and inclusion initiatives at Lockheed Martin.
She began her career as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, building partnerships for youth social entrepreneurship at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. After several years of consulting on human capital challenges at Deloitte and Cisco Systems, she joined Prince George’s County Public Schools as a project manager and Broad Resident. There, she led process improvements and managed a multi-year Wallace Foundation grant to select, develop, and evaluate the district’s school leader pipeline.
Lorraine holds a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in child development and international relations, an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and a senior professional in human resources certification. She serves as board treasurer for Lee Montessori Public Charter Schools in Washington, D.C., and lives in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband and two daughters.

Generations of teachers in my family instilled a belief that education can create powerful opportunities for individuals and communities. I want to be a part of creating transformative, equitable educational opportunities for my daughters and all students.
