Background:
Mary Kircher is a consultant at Bellwether in the Strategic Advising practice area.
Mary began her career in education as a Teach For America corps member in the San Francisco Bay Area teaching high school science. She was a founding teacher at Summit Public Schools: Shasta, a charter high school in Daly City, California, and taught for four years while co-developing a new personalized, project-based learning curriculum and mentoring a group of 20 students through graduation and college acceptance. After leaving the classroom, Mary held multiple roles at Gradient Learning, helping schools adopt and implement innovative instructional practices and whole-child supports.
Mary holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a master’s degree in education from Loyola Marymount University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Columbia University.
Why I do this work:
I grew up in a small town where education was an afterthought for many. I was lucky to have a few key adults and experiences that opened doors and expanded my future opportunities. I believe that an equitable education system is one that takes luck out of the equation and ensures that all students, regardless of where they grow up, have access to a rigorous, relevant, and enriching education.
