Background:
Gaby Arismendi is a summer fellow at Bellwether in the Strategic Advising practice area.
Prior to Bellwether, Gaby worked for more than 10 years at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in a variety of roles at the school-, network-, and district-levels. While at CPS, district work included data analysis, grants management, and school board governance. Prior to CPS, Gaby worked in both direct service and administrative capacities in youth development and out-of-school programming at Instituto del Progreso Latino, a nonprofit community-based education, training, and employment organization on the southwest side of Chicago. Â
Gaby holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from the University of Illinois Chicago, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Why I do this work:
As the child of immigrants and a first-generation college student, I personally know the difference that education can make in one’s life. I also know that, unfortunately, not all students actually have access to high-quality educational opportunities. It is this lack of access that drives me to do this work.
