Background:

Jordan Mosby is a summer intern at Bellwether in the Policy and Evaluation practice team.

In addition to his work at Bellwether, he serves as a researcher on the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership Learning-Equity Centered Leadership project, a national initiative supporting eight urban districts in developing equity-centered principal pipelines in partnership with local universities. There, Jordan conducts in-person interviews with district staff, codes and analyzes qualitative data, and develops research briefs that document district learning and progress. He also leads research examining how school systems define and implement equity and how district-university partnerships shape leadership development. Previously, Jordan conducted research on K-12 funding equity, district leadership practices, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on school resources.

Jordan holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Morehouse College and a master’s degree in sociology from Brown University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in sociology at Brown University.

Why I do this work:

As a first-generation college graduate, I believe deeply in every child’s right to an equitable education — especially Black and Latino students who have long faced systemic barriers in our school systems. My work is grounded in a personal commitment to making sure that students in under-resourced school systems — like the one I grew up in — have access to the kind of education that expands opportunity and shapes long-term outcomes.
