Background:
Previously, Krista was the policy director for Education Evolving, where she led legislative initiatives around competency-based education, innovation zones, and alternative teacher preparation. She also launched an education policy fellowship with Teach For America – Twin Cities to help educators get involved in policymaking and share best practices. Krista started her career as a special education teacher and Teach For America corps member in Chicago. She holds a master’s of public policy from the University of Minnesota, a master’s of education from Harvard University, and a bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from the University of Chicago.
Why I do this work:
My mother worked two jobs and made many sacrifices to enroll me in a private high school that changed the entire trajectory of my life. I do this work because no parent should have to do what my mother did so that their child can have a high-quality education and reach their full potential. Every school should be high quality.
