Background:
Marisa Mission is a senior analyst with Bellwether.
Her experience spans federal policymaking and nonprofit capacity-building, as well as teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students as young as preschoolers all the way to college seniors. Prior to joining Bellwether, Marisa worked for U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, where she researched education policy for the legislative team. Marisa also served as a 2021 Community Impact Fellow with Venture Leadership Collective, during which she supported strategic advising for nonprofits, as well as oversaw programming for nonprofit leaders. She began her career in education policy at the U.S. Department of Education, where she drove inaugural efforts to evaluate the Department’s grantmaking efficiency.
Marisa graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s in international relations.
Why I do this work:
There are three reasons for why I do this work. The first is that I believe learning is a community endeavor, and that we all have a collective responsibility to serve the next generation. Another reason is that education has been a transformative force in my life, and I hope sharing its power helps others find success and happiness. Finally, I simply love learning, and I hope that every student–regardless of their background, heritage, or abilities–can similarly experience that joy in their lives.
