Sharmila brings two decades of education policy experience to her role, including seven years at the Education Commission of the States and 10 years at the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association, engaging with state and federal policymakers, funders, and national associations in pursuit of policy to smooth student transitions between secondary and postsecondary sectors.

Why I do this work:

I began my career as college faculty and was distressed by how difficult it was for my students to find the support they needed to successfully achieve their educational attainment goals. I am focused on the evolution of education systems to more fully support students, especially those who begin furthest from opportunity.
