Background:

Starr Aaron is a technical support manager at Bellwether Education Partners. In this role, she provides technical training and support to team members, focusing on user experience and problem solving. Prior to joining Bellwether, she worked as a financial services technical trainer, a high school English teacher, and an AmeriCorps volunteer for the American Red Cross. Starr has also spent many years as a community volunteer, serving as Girl Scout troop leader, event planner with the Citizens Fundraising Initiative for Roeland Park, and PTO board member at her children’s schools. When she finds the time, her hobbies include book clubbing, visiting national parks, and finding the perfect trifle recipe.

Starr holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Johns Hopkins University, and a master’s degree in secondary English education from Columbus State University. She and her husband Ryan have three children, Katie, Winslow, and Drew, all of whom attend the neighborhood public school.

Why I do this work:

Having been immersed in grassroots efforts to improve our local school, I’m well aware that this work, while important, just isn’t sufficient. There must be work and change at all levels, from my neighborhood all the way up to the national stage.
