New York Pre-K And Common Core

New York Mayor de Blasio clearly wants to establish a precedent with his pre-K program.  But while the pitting of charters schools against pre-K (there is no reason the two ideas should be in tension, do both) is getting attention Nitzan Pelman points out in The Daily News that de Blasio’s rush to enact pre-K may set a different precedent than he wants: A program enacted too quickly to be quality that discredits the pre-K idea rather than advancing it.

Peter Cunningham calls out the teachers unions over the New York Common Core debate – which is barely about Common Core at all anyway.
