Background

Amy Chen Kulesa is a senior associate partner at Bellwether and leads the organization’s work on artificial intelligence (AI).

At Bellwether, Amy shapes the organization’s work in AI and supports partners to navigate opportunities and challenges in the emerging space. Her expertise covers a range of strategic planning, growth, and continuous improvement projects with schools, networks, foundations, and nonprofits. Amy also has deep experience in instructional materials, professional learning, education technology, science education, charter management organizations, postsecondary and career pathways, early college, and whole child education.

Prior to Bellwether, Amy was the director of data and analytics at Boston Prep, a public charter school in Massachusetts serving students in grades 6-12. There, she led the school’s data systems, collaborated on the school’s strategic plan, and supported a growth application that led to a state commissioner’s recommendation for expansion of Boston Prep by 75%. Earlier in her career, Amy was a consultant at Booz & Company and worked with Fortune 500 clients on operational strategy projects.

Amy graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in operations research and a minor in art history and economics. She currently resides in the Greater Boston area.

Why I Do This Work

I come from a family of educators whose deep value in education led me to work in an urban school, where I was exposed to the wide gaps and inequalities that persist in our education system. I do this work to improve access and equity for all students, regardless of skin color, income, or abilities, so that every child can achieve their full potential.
