Background
Enjé Harden is the contracts manager at Bellwether on the Core Operations team.
Prior to Bellwether, Enjé was the managing director of operations for the Maya Angelou Schools’ See Forever Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based education nonprofit managing charter schools and educational services in the city’s youth correctional facilities. She led implementation of operational policies and procedures for key functions including technology, facilities management, procurement, grants management, and major contracts administration for the foundation. Enjé also has extensive experience in charter school budget drafting and management, and began her career as a world languages instructor in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
In addition to her work experience, Enjé is the president of the board of directors at the Community Purchasing Alliance, a regional cooperative that leverages the collective buying power of charter schools, faith-based organizations, and other community institutions to accelerate progress towards sustainability, equity, and justice.
Enjé holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in government and French from Georgetown University. She lives with her husband in Vero Beach, Florida, where she enjoys cycling, attending the local symphony, and taking “long walks on the beach.”
Why I do this work:
I was raised by a single mother who prioritized educational excellence. Although we lived in an area zoned for the poorest-performing schools in the county, she petitioned for me to receive a high-quality education. As a result, I never attended my neighborhood schools and was exposed to the rigor needed to ensure postsecondary success. This inspires me to leverage my talents to advance educational outcomes for all learners, regardless of their ZIP code.
