Background:

Marisa Mission is a senior analyst with Bellwether in the Policy and Evaluation practice area.

Her prior experience spans federal policymaking and nonprofit leadership, as well as teaching, tutoring, and mentoring students as young as preschoolers all the way to college seniors. Prior to joining Bellwether, Marisa interned for U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, where she researched education policy for the legislative team. Marisa also served as a 2021 Community Impact Fellow with Venture Leadership Collective, supporting strategic advising for nonprofits and overseeing programming for nonprofit leaders. Her interest in education policy stems from her time at the U.S. Department of Education, where she drove inaugural efforts to evaluate its grantmaking effectiveness.

Marisa holds a bachelor’s in international relations from Stanford University.

Why I do this work:

There are three reasons for why I do this work. The first is that I believe learning is a community endeavor, and that we all have a collective responsibility to serve the next generation. Another reason is that education has been a transformational force in my life, and I hope sharing its power helps others find success and happiness. Finally, I simply love learning, and I hope that every student–regardless of their background, heritage, or abilities–can similarly experience that joy in their lives.
