Background
Shaterika Parks is a talent and people operations manager at Bellwether.
Shaterika is a human resources leader with more than a decade of experience across charter schools, urban school districts, education nonprofits, and consulting firms. Her work has focused on talent acquisition, staffing, people operations, workforce planning, and building systems that help organizations attract, develop, and retain strong teams.
Prior to Bellwether, Shaterika served as director of people and human resources operations at UnboundEd. In North Carolina, she previously led staffing for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and worked in talent acquisition for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Shaterika also held talent leadership roles at STRIVE Preparatory Schools in Denver. She began her education career as a middle school math teacher through Teach For America.
Shaterika earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Mary Baldwin University and a master’s degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.
Why I Do This Work
I attended Title I schools throughout my K-12 career and did not fully understand the inequities in our education system until college, when I realized how different my educational experience had been from many of my peers.
My path into education is rooted in the Ghanaian principle of Sankofa — looking back to move forward. I chose to return to my community and remain in education because I believe every student deserves access to excellent educators, strong schools, and opportunities that are not determined by ZIP code, race, or family income.
